During Activities Week, from Monday to Thursday, 42 students from Years 7 to 10 travelled to France, visiting places such as Normandy, Calais, Bayeux, and the D-Day beaches in Normandy. The trip began early Monday morning at 7 AM, when the group departed by coach to Dover, arriving at 10 AM to board a ferry to Dunkirk — the site of the famous mass British and French troop evacuation during Operation Dynamo, which took place from May 26 to June 4, 1940.Upon arrival, the students visited several museums and D-Day sites, which many found both interesting and enjoyable. As Ben H. remarked, “It was good and fun.”
This afternoon, pupils in year 8 were sculpting clay faces! Students had mixed opinions about this project. Moulded by hand, the mask preserves every fingerprint and subtle indentation, echoing the silent dialogue between creator and clay. Its features are intentionally abstract, allowing students to project their own interpretations - anger, strength, fear, or happiness.
Today year 7 have been enjoying their time in art creating clay faces. They have been using their imagination to make unique and different faces and expressions. We asked the students what techniques they were using and how this helps them make their finished project, Emmy M in 7B2 said, “I am wedging and rolling my clay to release any air bubbles”
The Year 8’s were participating in Fu-jitsu’s Enterprise Day. This day was fo-cused on developing ideas for their busi-nesses. Fujitsu generously stepped in to support the Year 8 students by helping them create their very own app. As part of an educational initiative to inspire young minds in technology and innovation, a team from Fujitsu collaborated with the students, guiding them through the process of app development from idea to execution.

On Monday we held our annual art exhibition. It was a joy to see so many diverse and skillfully executed pieces of work on offer from year 7 all the way to year 11 GCSE students. We welcomed a lot of visitors to the evening exhibition on Monday and students were delighted to see so many members of the community as well as Vyne staff in awe of their talents. Congratulations to all those students that were exhibited. Well done for your hard work and dedication to your artwork. A massive thank-you to all the people that helped out making the event a success.
Our student guide, Coping with exam pressure, has been developed in collaboration with Professor Dave Putwain, a researcher at Liverpool John Moores University and former school and college teacher. This resource provides practical strategies for GCSE, A level, and vocational students experiencing exam-related stress.
The Vyne Community School's eports team competed in a high-stakes game of Lague of Legends against Court Moor School from Fleet at Queen Mary's College on Monday, March 24. Full report on the Gazette Newspaper - click here
Due to current pressures on the NHS, we have been asked that schools promote the Healthier Together resource for parents to get advice and guidance about their child's health and well-being. Healthier Together should be the first point of call for parents. The platform has a number of accessibility functions: when touched, the text will be read aloud; parents may select their country's flag and all the pages will be translated into their language; and the font size can also be increased. Thank you for your help in sharing this important information. The following link will enable you to access the poster should you experience any issues -
